Carl Zeiss has confirmed that the mysterious 'ZE' mount it will start making lenses for is the Canon EF mount. Initially the company will brand its Planar T* 50mm and 85mm F1.4 transmission focus lenses available. Both will be available by the end of 2008. ZE – Carl Zeiss SLR lenses now besides with EF bayonet

More than optics for anybody

OBERKOCHEN/Germany, Carl Zeiss is expanding its successful line of SLR lenses: ZE lenses with EF bayonet for all analog and digital EOS camera models. Equally with all EF lenses, the new ZE lenses from Carl Zeiss transfer all data exclusively via electronic contacts. This ways that all exposure modes such equally programmed machine exposure, shutter priority, aperture priority and manual setting are supported.

The camera's automatic focus confirmation too remains available to an unlimited extent with these transmission focus lenses. With digital SLRs, the lens information and all exposure data tin also exist accessed via the camera's EXIF file. Even E-TTL wink metering is supported. The start lenses to exist bachelor will exist the Planar T* one.4/50 ZE and the Planar T* ane.4/85 ZE in the concluding quarter of this year.

Further focal lengths will be added to the line within the adjacent few months.
